My wife and I visited Daisy Lake in Algonquin. Here are a few pictures as well as a few clips we posted on instastory. I'm working on a 'trip' video that will be posted here shortly. The weather was perfect, other than having a fire ban in place. But with the long daylight hours it didn't matter too much. After arriving at access three we had three portages to do to get to the Lake, they all were fairly easy - not too hilly. Would highly recommend this as a quick weekend trip.

Just recently the City of Guelph opened a new 9 hole disc golf course at Riverside Park. We checked it out on a beautiful May summer like evening - not bad, although we had just experienced a nasty wind storm that had left 3 large trees on the ground. Each of the 9 holes are par 3's. Some are through thick trees which is neat, then others are in wide open space. For those who can't toss a disc too far, this course is in your favor! Enjoy it! See location map, course layout and hole layout images below. There is even a playground and parking lot right next to hole number 1 which is great for bringing out the whole family. In true Canadian style, when it snows we here we like to go tobogganing, sledging, or as we call it... sledding! This was December of 2017 This was December of 2016 My wife and I are very different in some ways, none more than our love for reading! Now by the title and images contained in this post you would assume that i am the reader...but - Nope. She is the avid reader. But she has had an affect on me in more ways than one and reading would be one of them. Although our style of material to read is quite different as I tend to ready more non fiction and she reads more fiction! “You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” - Charlie 'Tremendous' Jones This quote made an impression on me, so i decided to read a few books a year. Well in one and a half years i have ready well over 26 books! Below are a few images to show the titles/authors. My favorites of this group are the 2 by Bear Grylls and the one by Adam Shoalts. Some of the books i read on a near daily basis are: • The Bible • The Power of a Praying Husband • The Power of a Praying Parent • Streams in the Desert Since i am still new at this complete book reading thing i often will be in the process of reading 2-3 books in the same time period. Often it will be a mix of fiction/nonfiction. None-the-less, don't underestimate the influence the experiences of others can have on your life! Stories told through the words on pages can have a lasting impact on all of us and help us to learn and see life from their perspectives. In the council of many there is wisdom! So hey - go to your nearest library or book store, or maybe to someones home, look at their bookshelf and say - 'Hey, can i read this!' and go for it, it just might change your life! This past weekend, Lisa and I went on a camping adventure. We stayed two nights at Killbear Provincial Park, located near Parry Sound. The weather was rainy on the way there, but sunny/cloudy the rest of the weekend. The fun part was that it was +4 during the day and -4 at night! BRRRR. Thus we went through stacks of firewood to stay warm! This was the first weekend in HISTORY that Killbear Park was open past Thanksgiving weekend. Beaver Dams was the only campground that was open, but most of the park was still open to explore. Every year my extended family on the Katerberg side does a pretty good hike, our numbers grow every year with babies being born, girlfriends or boyfriends tagging along etc. So with that in mind this year we did a great hike between St. Jacobs and Waterloo, Ontario. This trail was called the Heath Valley Trail and was a smooth, non-hilly 5.1 km's The fall colours were awesome, we ate some apples along the way, saw wildlife on the ground and in the Conestoga river. The weather was amazing! Got some good group shots too! We did it on the Monday morning, but on the Friday before i biked it so we would be sure it was an acceptable hike for so many people to do. When i did it it was pretty muddy, but I though it would be great - especially since it was flat and only 5km's. Here is the video of me doing it - in real time! Enjoy! Visited Algonquin Park May 1-4 of 2015. Used access point #3, through Magnetawan, Hambone, and Raph Bice Lakes. Staying on Little Trout Lake. Had great weather!
Some parts of the lake still had ice on it, lots of snow in the bush. Did lots of fishing and hiking. Great area to explore! Didn't see any other people while we were there! |
