This past weekend, Lisa and I went on a camping adventure. We stayed two nights at Killbear Provincial Park, located near Parry Sound. The weather was rainy on the way there, but sunny/cloudy the rest of the weekend. The fun part was that it was +4 during the day and -4 at night! BRRRR. Thus we went through stacks of firewood to stay warm! This was the first weekend in HISTORY that Killbear Park was open past Thanksgiving weekend. Beaver Dams was the only campground that was open, but most of the park was still open to explore.

Every year my extended family on the Katerberg side does a pretty good hike, our numbers grow every year with babies being born, girlfriends or boyfriends tagging along etc. So with that in mind this year we did a great hike between St. Jacobs and Waterloo, Ontario. This trail was called the Heath Valley Trail and was a smooth, non-hilly 5.1 km's The fall colours were awesome, we ate some apples along the way, saw wildlife on the ground and in the Conestoga river. The weather was amazing! Got some good group shots too! We did it on the Monday morning, but on the Friday before i biked it so we would be sure it was an acceptable hike for so many people to do. When i did it it was pretty muddy, but I though it would be great - especially since it was flat and only 5km's. Here is the video of me doing it - in real time! Enjoy! |
